Position Overview
The Finance Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s daily financial activities, ensuring accuracy in financial documentation, compliance with policies, and timely reporting. The role supports budgeting, financial planning, accounting functions, and internal controls to maintain the financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.

Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Monitor financial transactions and ensure they are recorded in accordance with accounting standards.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Monitor budget execution and highlight variances for management action.

Support different departments in understanding and managing their budgets.
3. Accounting & Bookkeeping

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Manage invoices, receipts, payroll records, and other financial paperwork.

Ensure timely payment of bills, tax obligations, and other financial commitments.

Reconcile bank statements and accounting ledgers.
4. Compliance & Internal Controls

Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Support audits by preparing required documentation.

Maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
5. Cash & Treasury Management

Monitor cash flow and ensure availability of funds for operational needs.

Manage petty cash and other small-scale transactions.

Assist in managing bank relationships and financial service providers.
6. Administrative & Support Duties

Provide financial guidance to program teams and other departments.

Support management in financial decision-making.

Prepare financial summaries and presentations as needed.
Qualifications
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Professional certifications (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) are an added advantage.
Experience
-
2–5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a similar role.

Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, etc.).
Skills
